Hiya there Peeps
Shuna P here
I think that I have finally found my groove
The kiddies are adjusting
My feet are content with being in real shoes again
and
best of all: I don’t have to go to bed a 7p.m anymore!
Anyhoo
I wanted to share with yall a quick peek at my week
Here are some of my classroom pics first
Here is my writing board
The paper is for my TA to use when she does Guided Writing

My P.B.I.S. Bulletin Board
The students each have a monkey that has there student number
When the students earn S.T.A.R. bucks they clip them to their monkey

My crafting area for whole group instruction
The striped rectangles on the door are actually place mats that will be used to stick the spelling words of the week and word family words on

Letter of the week and word family of the week

My bench that I have been promising to show for a while

Under my white board
The baskets on top of the crates hold my book for the week
puppets, reading skills and and letter cards.
In the crates are the students carpet folders, white boards and socks with dry eraser markers
No more arguing over what color marker they get

This week we have been reading Brown Bear Brown Bear
I love love love this story and the kiddos love it too
This year my kiddos need a lot of support with the alphabet
After we read the story the kiddies worked on matching the uppercase letters to the lowercase letters
Boy did this take a while
I have a couple of students who don’t even know what the alphabet is
*Smiles*
We will get there
Sentence Cards
Our spelling words for this week were I, see, the and a
We sung our spelling word songs from here
Then we practiced reading and writing those words

Alphabets in line

Cut and Paste Alphabet Sheet
We also had a teddy bear day since we read the story Brown Bear
This little cutie is telling her bear friend the letters in the alphabet
More practice with spelling words and reading the I see sentences
The students built the I see sentences and used a pointer to read the sentence

If you are interested you can check out the unit here
You can pick up some freebies to go along with the unit here and here
This week we began learning about numbers
The students went to stations to practice some number skills
Students used number stampers and playdough in this station

We practiced writing numbers and used links to show the correct amount
At my station we worked on number formation using playdough
We practiced building the number
For example we talked about that the number 5 is made up of a backwards C, a small stick and a line across the sky

One of the many crafts that we worked on this week
This is from the Alpha Pack from Nicole @ Rowdy in Room 300
You can check out the pack here
I came home and saw this on my door step
I don’t know what it is about boxes that makes me break out in a fit of giggles and turn me back into a school girl
Lakeshore sent me a little goodie in the mail
I will be back later to show you what we did with these little ditties
Fine motor practice anyone?

Peace out Peeps

Guest Blogger Kelly! Pssst she brought some goodies with her

Howdy folks!  It’s Kelley Dolling from Teacher Idea Factory.  I cannot tell you how excited I am to be guest bloggin’ here today!  When I heard Shuna needed a few people to jump in for her during that crazy first week back at school, I raised my hand immediately 🙂  There is no way I would have missed out on helpin’ out the gal who helped me oh-so much when I  first got started bloggin’ back in March!

On that note, I couldn’t be a guest in such a special place without offering up a freebie in honor of Shuna’s first day with her new crew.  It’s called, Back To School Roll, Snip, and Graph . . .
CLICK HERE to download this game!

I used this roll-n-graph game concept all the time in small groups when I taught kinder and I will be bringing it back as an easy first week activity for my firsties this year!  Here’s how this little ditty rolls (hahahaha .  . . rolls)!
  1. Provide each student in your center with a graph, picture cards, and a die.
  2. Students roll the die, count the dots, and cut out that same number of backpacks from their picture cards.
  3. These are glued in the appropriate column on their graph and the number can either be written or tallied on the line below.
  4. These steps are repeated for the book, lunchbox, and bus columns.
  5. NOTE: Thank you KMP Doodles for your help in the design department . . . you always help me look good!

Simple.  Quick.  Little Prep.  It’s a Back to School activity at it’s finest 🙂
On a final note today, if you are in need of an easy Back to School craftivity, check out The Best Thing Write + Tear Art Craft.  It’s FREE and I cannot tell you how precious they look when they are up on the walls 🙂

Well, that’s it for me today, friends!  If you like what you see, I’d love to have you pay me a little visit at Teacher Idea Factory in the near future.

A huge thank you to Shuna for letting me hang out today.  I had a ball 🙂

I Finally Did it! Made it Monday

HIya Peeps
Shuna P here
For those of you visiting Welcome to Pocket Full of Kinders!
So I have been meaning to link up with Tara @ 4th Grade Frolics and her Made it Monday series but I
have been too lazy to make anything
I am so excited that I can F.I.N.A.L.L.Y link up because I made something
Whoooo Hoooooooo!

So without further ado
Here is my little craft inspired by one of my blogging buds Nicole
I know that you all have seen them little dinks all over the web
But now I am throwing mine in the mix
Here is Nicole’s
Here is mine
N.A.I.L.E.D
It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nicole would be so proud!
Umm no it looks terrible
I hated it. So it sat for a couple of weeks, nevermind the date I made it in July and just snapped the pics

because I deemed it too ugly for you guys to see!

I am sorry for harm I caused to your eyes with this atrocity!

Please forgive me

I hope to redeem myself

Here is how my new alphabet organizer looks

I then traced an outline of the little boxes and cut them to fit

I sprayed spray adhesive on the box, a little too much on some of them, and placed the cut out on the

box.

Came out pretty cute but the remnants of the old box were driving me crazy

I should have used the other side of the little box but I did not think about that till half way through the

project! I just pulled the paper off an flipped the little box on the other side

Now that I look closer I should have flipped Bb over too!

I am much happier with this one!

I like Nicole’s idea of using it to hold alphabet magnets for word work

I used this last year and I think that I will moved this one to the kiddos Word Work Center

In other news you can check me out today and get a fabulous freebie

Peace Out Peeps
